PENYIAR 10th Anniversary Celebration

Broadcaster Association of Brunei (PENYIAR) celebrated its 10th anniversary on 7th June 2008. PENYIAR was formally formed on 1st Jun 1998. The evening was welcomed by the President Haji Julahi.

Former Radio Television Brunei (RTB) Director Haji Yusof Hj Abdul Rahman officiated with a speech. He touched on the very challanging enviroment of broadcast today. He joined the broadcasting career as an engineer. Became as civil servant in RTB and retired in RTB (I'm sure he has tons of experience to tell)

Another recently retired senior RTB officer, Mr Lim Sam Lee. He was Head of the Engineering Division and for sure he knew the digitalisation project of RTB. That night Mr Lim gave a talk Digital Broadcasting: Challenges And Opportunities.

See the young lady wearing redish tudung. She is Dewi of Brunei Times composing story, on the spot reporting to BT hq. On line reporting is an "in" among reporters nowadays. That technology !

Another prominent speaker, Dr Jefri Arif. First time I heard him being referred as "Dr". Congrats to you. Dr Jefri spoke on Penyiaran Masakini (Broadcasting Today). He noted that RTB has sufficient engineers (technical) but short of (or lack of) programme engineers to produce good programmes.

Regalblue crew was there too to record the function. You could see the video streaming of the event on their blog: regalblue.tv

Pg Amiruddin from of RTB Corporate Division was among the guest. Good cooperation between RTB and Penyiar will help to tackle the new demanding problems.

Gambar kenangan. The Jawatankuasa with former Director of RTB and invited speakers. Tough task to run the association. Broadcasting is no more monopolise by main stream radio and televison services. The webcasting, video streaming, the blog are among new technology.

Masih ada ohmp (still got the voice). Haji Morshidi, the former RTB Presentation Manager.
PENYIAR membership is not for former RTB staff only. It opens to anybody who have interest in programme broadcasting. We welcome you.
