Hundreds of Brunei foster families flocked to Muara Port yesterday to say farewell and wished a safe journey to the the Youth South East Asia Programme participants. Red eyes and tears flowed as time to depart to next port of call Jakarta, came nearer.
Nippon Maru arrived for 3 days stay where programmes were prepared by host country Brunei. The short stint gave youth from Japan and ASEAN gain a lasting experience of Brunei social life and culture.
Brunei, represented by 28 male and female participants selected from both the private and public sectors, of which the main objective is to build understanding and international cooperation among Asean and Japan youths. The programme's objectives also include gaining knowledge of various activities from different aspects of culture, economy and politics.This is the 24th time Brunei participants are involved in the programme since 1985. The SSEAYP 2008 started on October 21 until December 11th
Foster parents arrived in big group to say farewell to their "Japan and ASEAN Children" hoping some day they would meet again.
General public were allowed to glimse inside the big oceaner where SSEAYP 2008 conducted activities to bring understanding among the ASEAN and Japanese youth.
