PANTARAN SASTERA 2009
Another literary function I attended this week was in Dewan Sarambangun Tutong. The date was 1st March. The Pantaran Sastera DBP 2009 was for “Pelancaran Buku Antologi Cerpen Sepanjang Perjalanan dan Antologi Sajak Suara. The two books were written by Tutong writers. A presentation of literary works and gulintangan made up the Sunday morning show as a success story..
PESTA BUKU DBP 2009
This year’s Pesta Buku organized by Dewan Bahasa was packed with participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Egypt, Jordan, United Kingdom and of course the host country, Brunei Darussalam. Beside selling books there were also side activities quiz, poem reading, workshop on book illustration and many more.
I was honoured as a group writers to receive a book titled Astaka Khusyuk Tawaduk, a compilation of Sajak, Pantun and Shair in conjunction with Brunei Silver Jublee Independence Celebration.

LEE KUAN YEW TALK
On 25 February 2009 I had a chance to squeeze myself into a packed hall in ICC to hear a talk by Minister Mentor of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew on Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan in conjunction of Brunei Silver Jubilee Independence Celebration.
Without a ticket, I was not provided a token magazine. I was hoping LKY would talk issues which were not in history book. He looked frail and soft spoken. I almost could not hear what he delivered. My friend who sat next to me commented he could hear about 5 % of the whole Ceramah. Next day there was full page of what he said in Brunei Times and Borneo Bulletin.
